To Write Love On Her Arm-I am not sure the origin of this movement.  I learned about it about 10 years ago when I saw a classmate with the word love on her arm.

Basically, the premise for the movement is to stand unified with those that struggle with suicidal thoughts, self-mutilation or body image issue.  On a specific day, everyone writes LOVE on their arms to let those struggling know they are not alone.

This is so powerful for me. I am not sure if I have ever shared on my blog but I struggle with self-mutilation.  Ever since I was a teenager when I got depressed I would find a sharp object and start carving on my arm.

Many people may think that if you cut your skin that it is a suicidal attempt and for me, this is not true.  I have not struggled with suicidal thought since I was a teenager.  But when I cut my skin it is a physical/mental escape.  When I feel the cutting of the skin it feels like the escape of the emotional pain through a physical exit.

It may seem crazy but that is the best way to describe it.  Also for me, the physical wound was something that others could be compassionate about.  They could relate to the physical pain.  Not everyone could relate to the emotional pain.

So for the past 10 years, I have participated in this movement for personal reasons and also to become unified with those that struggle to let them know that are loved and supported.  So I suggest that you too unified with others and To Write Love On Your Arm

Take Care Much Love
