Seeing Life Through Someone Else’s Life

Because I do speeches for the Victim Impact Board I have had the opportunity to see life through someone else’s eye. I am so grateful for that.

There has been one speaker that has really impacted my life with her life and story.  I have heard her story over 20 times yet there is still something each time that impacts me.  Her name is Julia and her son’s name is Victor.  He was killed in 2007.  He was 19 years old

Julia is an amazing woman.  She shares Victor’s story with many different groups, agencies, and organizations.  She is so strong that she actually went to meet her son’s killer in prison a few years ago.

Julia is such a vulnerable woman.  She shares her weaknesses with other to let them know what it is like to have her only child murdered.

Here are a few things she has shared as she has gone through different life stages:

-She will never see her son get married.

-She is at the stage in life that her friends are becoming grandparents and this is something she will never be able to be.

-Mother’s Day and the day he was killed are within weeks of each other.  That time of the year is so hard for her.

As she has shared these things with me it has changed my perspective on life.  When I get frustrated with my girls or my life, I remember Julia and the pain she deals with on a daily basis.  When I became a Mimi I prayed for Julia and was truly grateful for the opportunity to be a Mimi and I realize how much of a gift it truly is.

I thank GOD for putting amazing people like Julia in my life so I can see life through other peoples eyes

Take Care.  Much Love
